We are currently doing a challenge in our female Facebook group  Mothers Kids and More (MKM) were we asked our teachers to post and educate our kids during this lockdown to help reduce the stress mums are going through home schooling their kids. If you are chosen, you will get a monetary gift from the group as appreciation .

I want to discuss about kids that find it difficult to read and write their letters

HOW TO TEACH A CHILD WHO HAS DIFFICULTIES IN READING..

First teach the child letter sounds… Letter a sounds ‘a’ as in ant, ‘b’ sound b as in bag up to z.
After that start teaching the child how to blend.. By sounding the first letter and join to the second letter, teach 2 letters at first e.g On, up, then proceed to 3letter 4 letters …. then introduce consonant clusters sound.. st, Br, Pl, fr, Tr, sp, gr, e.t.c

After you have seen improvement in the child’s ability to blend letters…

Now introduce phonograms/diagraphs sound…
‘OO’, sound as in Pool, ‘EE’ sound FEEL, ‘OI’ SOIL.., ‘TH’ BATH. and so on.. Reading takes gradual process don’t rush it and practice it daily…

Note: The most important thing to do is to recitethe letter sound , Diagraphs and consonant clusters daily…

TEACHING A CHILD HOW TO WRITE LETTERS AND NUMBERS

First introduce patterns to your child

– A stroke, A right curve, A left Curve , A dash, A hook up, A Hook down… E.t.c,

This patterns works for both writing letters and figures…

After the child can write a stroke perfectly then introduce the next pattern …

WRITING FIGURES WITH PATTERN SEE👇
To write number 1 is a stroke
To write number 2 is a left curve and a dad
To wrote number three is a left curve and another left curve
To wrote number 4 is a stroke,a dash and another Stroke… E.t.c

WRITING SMALL LETTERS WITH PATTERN SEE BELOW 👇

To write a is a right curve and a short Strom
To write b is a stroke and a left down curve
To write c is a right curve
To write d is a stroke and a right down curve e.t.c

Please now that the kids are at home, they need to be practicing daily… If you can try all these above, your kid will start reading/writing as if you use magic…

If you dont know the letter sounds, diagraphs and the consonant cluster sounds ,you can download it or ask me for the audio, I can record it and send to you for free.
But better still download it with pictures it will entice them to Learn more.. The audio I will send is just for the person teaching the child to know the sounds..
